Monural is a drug for the treatment of acute uncomplicated infections of the lower urinary tract caused by fosfomycin-sensitive microorganisms in men and girls aged 12 years and older and adult women.
INDICATIONS
Treatment of acute uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections caused by fosfomycin-susceptible organisms in males and females 12 years of age and older and adult females. Prevention during diagnostic procedures and surgical interventions in adult patients.
COMPOSITION
1 package contains fosfomycin trometamol 5.631 g, which is equivalent to 3.0 g of fosfomycin
EFFECT
Fosfomycin affects the first stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis.
The structure of fosfomycin is similar to the structure of phosphoenolpyruvate. That is why it inactivates the enzyme enolpyruvyl transferase, thereby irreversibly blocking the condensation of uridine diphosphate-N-acetylglucosamine with phosphoenolpyruvate, one of the first stages of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Fosfomycin can also reduce the adhesion of bacteria on the epithelium of the mucous membrane of the bladder, which can be a provoking factor for the development of recurrent infections.
